Diesel black Gold- Womenswear Show Autumn/Winter 2015/16 in New York

In the heart of Wall Street, just opposite the New York Stock Exchange, Diesel Black Gold put on a show with their rock girls in an eighties spirit. The leather jacket was cropped – one of the biggest trends this New York Fashion Week – or on the contrast loose and enveloping. Andreas Melbostad added a certain sensuality and comfort with thick jumpers thrown over lace tops and dresses. We could see the designer’s touch through the play with zips, laces, and attatchements which become like SM camisoles but never being too much. To note: the studded bucket bags worn at the end of the arms.Interview: Andreas Melbostad: I was quite taken by this idea of proportions in the 80s and I was looking at the raw beauty of Peter Lindbergh’s work, I wanted to capture that kind of women in these silhouettes, so we played with oversized boxy, we cropped things short, we layered things, a lot was also about constructing pieces which would layer together to kind of capture different materials, different emotion. It comes very natural to me to focus on the hardware industrial side, and then I wanted to utilise that to bridge this kind of duality between the masculinity in the collection and the femininity in the collection and that was a lot of the task for me that I gave myself, and how do you pair a masculine jacket with a camisole and create a new interesting proportion. In this kind of cold New York weather, you get very in touch with reality of dressing no? So I think it’s important, so I wanted her to look really confident, and I think confidence also comes with comfort. Music from the show
