Louis Vuitton X Jeff Koons : The new collection revealed during a dinner at the Louvre Museum

Already amongst others like Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama or even Cindy Sherlan, it’s American artist Jeff Koons’ turn to collaborate with the Louis Vuitton malletier on a collection of bags and accessories titled “Masters”. Inspired by the series “Gazing Ball” designed by the artist, we find the reinterpretations of five major works of great masters (Leonard de Vinci, Le Titien, Rubens, Fragonard & Van Gogh) adapted on three iconic bag models as well as on several accessories like scarves. (Interview)To create even more uniqueness, Jeff Koons was allowed to reinterpret the famous LV monogram for the first time. (Interview)And where better than Mona Lisa’s smile in the Louvre Museum to celebrate in one dinner this new collection which will be released in 450 shops around the world next April 28th. Interview with Jeff Koons:I would hope when somebody walks down the street with this that what they are doing is really celebrating humanity. I hope someone that sees the bag can emotionally see this connectivity.Working with the monogram I had this idea to reduce it somewhat and by reducing it, in a way it’s actually amplifying it also make the JK like the LV and to have them side by side and we both have the same objective we want to make something that really uses materials uses texture, colour, communicates creates something that’s desirable, Louis Vuitton does that and my art tries to do that through idea and through the same appreciation of craft. And I wanted it to become art I believe that these bags are art. Music free of right / Bandit & Nikit 2017
