Arthur Arbesser Show - Women's Collection Autumn/Winter 2018/19 in Milan (with interview)

Designer: arthur arbesserinspiration: austria and its artists. arthur arbesser recently collaborated with the city of vienna which greatly inspired him this season, notably through art, design and the art of tableware as well as architecture and the work of koloman moser, a viennese painter and designer but also the philosopher moser, and his focus on the cycle of daily life through its aesthetic aspects. collection: a collection of impressively blended graphic motifs, consisting of stripes with a touch of mesmerising metallic material. focus on the wide stripes in contrasting colours, the frills at the waist, the jagged fringing at the base of skirts and the previously unseen prints used on the knitwear, a pea coat, a skirt…to note: the femininity of balloon sleeves, the fluidity of certain dresses and the metallic boots in varnished leather. + the freshness that emerges from this collection from the cuts, the volumes and this updated wardrobe which defines the young and daring new designers. interview with arthur arbesser: i’ve been approached by the city of vienna to do a project for them to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the death of egon schiele, gustav klimt, koloman moser, otto wagner these were all four very important personalities for the city of vienna, who all died in 1918 so 2018 is a big anniversary year for the city of vienna, and they approached me to do a little project for them, and from that started a project that took over the whole collection and i decided why not make this an homage to those four artists that changed the face of the city of vienna forever and that continue to inspire people like me even in 2018. there are a lot of lines and graphic details that really come from furniture basically and then i collaborated also with a fabric mill, backhausen, and i was allowed to use some original patterns of joseph hoffmann and koloman moser in this collection, and then i also took a lot of metallic inspiration so there is a lot from the glass and the silverware wiener werkstätte had and their objective was to make a 360° circle of beauty so their objective was to live in a special house, wear special clothes, eat with special cutlery ,they had a very romantic idea of beauty and i tried to incorporate the different worlds of this aesthetic in the collection. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information)
