Artistic director: ian griffiths location: at the collezione maramotti in reggio emilia. it was in this exhibition space for contemporary art, that the latest 2019 cruise collection was presented by the italian house, with a wink to the first works of art (kounelis, twombly, manzoni, among others) acquired by achille maramotti, founder of the max mara group. collection: pure lines, fluidity, lots of softness and several rounded shapes, with new volumes as seen through this enveloping grey coat. a max mara girl is graceful with a huge supple bag under her hands, she wears loose skirts and trousers, sometimes with a simple, fine strapped top. the tailored trousers contain silk for even more lightness. pleats and bows bring a new modernity. the colours remain basic but deep, based around ecru, beige and grey, with several touches of black or midnight blue. jumpers and coats transform into protective capes. to note: the straps are all rolled like rope, notably on the long dresses like the black version with a singular strap on one shoulder + the hand written lettering print which flits arounds several outfits. music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information)
